Hawzah News Agency- Shaykh al‑Saduq narrated that his father (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from Ahmad ibn Idris, from Muhammad ibn Ahmad, from Ali ibn Ismail, from Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Said, from some of his companions, who said: I heard al‑Ayyashi while he was saying:
I sought permission from Imam Ridha (pbuh) regarding alimony(1) on one’s family.
- He (The Imam) said: ‘It lies between two disliked extremes.’
I said: ‘May I be your ransom, by Allah, I do not know what the two disliked extremes are.’
He replied: ‘Indeed—may Allah have mercy on you—do you not know that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, dislikes extravagance and dislikes stinginess?’
Then he recited:
"Those who, when they spend, are neither wasteful nor miserly, but maintain a balanced course between the two."(2)
